Today's Age reported that Australian TV game shows, which make up at least half of all original Aussie TV programming, are getting dumber. This afternoon, doing laundry at my usual place, I noticed a woman in her 20s carefully separating her clothes into two dryers. Her henna-colored hair was in a tight ponytail and her singlet was tight and read something like 'Babydoll' or 'Princess' in glittery letters. My friend Karun, who works there part-time while studying IT at one of Melbourne's many universities, would call her a 'blondie'. The woman was on the verge of dumping a scoop of detergent into one of the dryers when Karun rushed over and told her a dryer was used to dry clothes, not wash them.
Little wonder game show makers have had to drop their standards ......
