Always a Friend

Springsteen has released a charity EP on iTunes that benefits the fund created after long-time E Street Band member 'Phantom' Dan Federici passed away on 17 April. According to a blurb on the iTunes store, "The artists, songwriters and music publishers are waiving their royalties from the sale of these downloads and Columbia Records is donating all of its net profits to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund."

The EP includes audio & video of four live performances from the Magic tour that featured guest appearances by Alejandro Escovedo, Roger McGuinn and Thom Morello, as well as Danny's last appearance on stage with Bruce and the band playing '4th of July, Asbury Park'. I downloaded it all today but haven't the will to watch Danny squeezing boardwalk soul from an accordian for the last time. Too heartbreaking.
