Don't belive the Aussie iHype.

A buzz among the techno-accessory set this morning with the overdue Australian release of Apple's iPhone. Queues formed long before sunrise after weeks of 'Jesus Phone' hype, but as this land is a technological backwater, the iPhone available to Aussies pales in comparison to overseas versions. Why? Because instead of it being a playground for customers, the iPhone is just another battlefront in Aussie 'phone wars'. Plus, unlike in the U.S., users will not have unlimited downloads, meaning many will be gobsmacked when they see their first bill.

Australia is not a service-oriented country; customers don't expect much, and companies aren't inclined to try harder to please. A 'crippled' version of TiVo was recently released that -- wait for it -- can't be used by cable TV subscribers because the service is being launched by a free-to-air commercial station. You see, the free-to-air 'hates' the cable side, so customers get the shaft.

How do you say 'ass-backwards' in Ocker?
