R.I.P. Bobby Murcer

As a little kid rooting for a lousy baseball team, Bobby Murcer was my shining light. I'd stare -- stare -- at his 1971 Topps baseball card with the intensity of an art professor at MOMA. Even waited in a long, long line at the Willowbrook Mall in the early '80s to get his autograph. Bobby, who retired in 1983 to became a beloved Yankees broadcaster and make room on the roster for Don Mattingly, died of brain cancer at the age of 62 on Saturday. He was surrounded by his wife and two sons.
