A heartbreaking loss.

North American novelist David Foster Wallace (left) committed suicide last Friday. The world of words loses an 'idealistic skeptic' who mined truth from our society's mountains of manufactured waste. Infinite Jest, published in 1996, gained Wallace international fame and blew me away with its headfirst immersion into the mythic & mundane. He was also an award-winning contributor to magazines. His death at 46, by his own hand, is a tragedy.
