Disastrous 'Drona'.

Then avoid a new Bollywood flick called Drona. After Aradhna and I stumbled from the CBD Greater Union like drunks hurled from a pub, dazed by the film's awfulness, I told Aradhna this film would put me off B-wood films the way a coarse, black hair sitting atop an ice cream sundae would mar all frozen desserts for life. At intermission it fell into the 'It's so bad it's good!' category but 5 minutes into its second half I wanted to hop a flight to Mumbai and hunt down all associated with this catastrophic rip-off of Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings (desi Nazgul!) and another dozen or so Hollywood films. Granted, fantasy isn't a Bollywood strength, but even giving points for effort doesn't excuse a hackneyed screenplay, cadaverish acting and soporific directing.

Abysmal efforts like this make me appreciate the miracle pulled off by Peter Jackson when he created the impeccable Tolkien trilogy. Theaters would have been ransacked if Frodo & Co. had been sullied by the likes behind this Drona dreck.
