Back in Sydney to retrieve our car, which chose the day before a 5-day weekend to become inoperable during our recent Easter road trip. This photo was taken Tuesday night at Melbourne's
Southern Cross station, where I caught an overnight train after a lovely Italian dinner with Aradhna on Collins Street. I like trains but more to the point like to travel cheaply when by myself. The
CountryLink train left Melbourne at 8:15 pm and arrived at Sydney's
Central station at 7:30 am.

I caught a few hours sleep and was glad to arrive in the Big Smoke (as my friend Alf refers to Sydney) on a crisp, clear morning. Walked to a familiar spot on Park Street in Sydney's CBD for a coffee and a spot in the maelstrom of morning hustle and flow, where these 2 photos were taken.

Sydneysiders and Melburnians love to play up their differences but aside from the weather they're two sides of the same coin. It's almost 5 years to the day that I moved to Australia. Sydney and its western suburbs are where I started a new life with a magnificent woman and I'll always regard it as one of my many 'hometowns'. Driving back to my current one tomorrow.
