Tawny Frogmouth

Had a Wildlife Victoria call about an owl being trapped in a house for two days. Owls aren't technically raptors but are birds of prey -- one that's been stuck inside over a weekend would have been a feather-covered handful.

Turns out the owl was the Tawny Frogmouth you see here. They eat bugs. Easy to capture. Vet checked it out and said it could be released after a good feed. Gave it a mixture of cat food and Powerade per the vet's recommendation. It was mostly gone when I returned to its Hampton neighbourhood and opened the carrier. It was looking the other way and S-L-O-W-L-Y turned its head. Stared at me for a good 5 seconds, a look that said "Are you fucking KIDDING me?" on its face. Eventually flew into a mostly dark sky.

A good result.
