Like the recently deceased David Bowie, Prince was omnipresent in my upbringing. From early videos like 'Controversy' on late-night video shows to the radio saturation of 'Little Red Corvette' and '1999' to Purple Rain's year-long dominance in 1984 to Sign o' the Times's crossover brilliance to the legendarily bootlegged Black Album and his neverending drama with Warner Bros, Prince was tattooed on my generation's psyche. And holy shit were we better off for it.
