Just watched a history-making football game on SBS here in Melbourne. The 12-point underdogs NY Giants beat the 18-0 New England Patriots 17-14 to win a nail-biting Super Bowl 42. Eli Manning, maligned earlier in the season as the 'other, less talented' quarterbacking member of his kin, orchestrated a drive with time running out that will be relived by Giants fans forever more in stadium parking lots, TV leisure rooms, taverns and every other place holding more than one Big Blue devotee.
It was odd watching a Super Bowl that began at 10 am and that didn't include over-hyped and under-thought US TV ads. Aradhna and I recently adopted two beautiful cats but I haven't seen hide nor hair of them since David Tyree made a catch of a lifetime (shown below) near the end of the game and I let out a holler that sent both of them into kitty orbit.
Wanted to speak with my dad in the States but couldn't get through. I'm sure he and Louise, like all Giants fans back in the States, are settling into bed still tingling from the drama of a Super Bowl that will never be forgotten.
Except by Patriots fans ...... HAH!!!!!!
