Indigenous Fijians and Indo-Fijians alike hope interim Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has a plan to restore democracy in Fiji's capitol of Suva. Sadly, like most military men who take office behind the barrel of a gun, Bainimarama clearly lacks the wisdom to do so. His latest blunder was pulling out of an annual Pacific leaders forum for reasons that would make sense only to a child under the age of ten. Today, Pacific leaders issued a unanimous final warning to Bainimarama that Fiji must work toward elections by March 2009 or risk suspension by the end of the year. Bainimarama has already declared that elections won't take place until at least 2010.
And Fiji's downward spiral continues ...
