Whether in my dad's copper-colored Pontiac Ventura or Aunt Eileen's grass-green Chevy Impala, I was raised on NYC-area AM radio. The Spinners -- shown above performing 'Games People Play' on Soul Train in 1975 -- were a staple, and Pervis Jackson was their glue. He passed away in the band's hometown of Detroit last week. He was 70 years old.
