Many may find it odd that I've remained staunchly partisan about US politics. I'm odd, yes, but in an age of electronic media it's easy to remain informed (perhaps too informed) of the Horseshit Olympics among US politicians, pundits and others of ill repute.

Australia's national broadcaster -- ABC -- has four channels on free-to-air TV. One -- ABC2 -- broadcasts The Daily Show and Colbert Report back-to-back on weeknights at 7:15 pm. This stellar pairing provides the equivalent of a daily physical check-up of the health of US politics & media. Most nights, of course, the prognosis is grim. Very, very grim.

Never more so than the contents of the above clip that involves congressional chicanery and gutlessness regarding a health care bill for Sept 11th responders. Stewart calls the segment 'I Give Up'.

There are times when I believe Stewart presents the only rational voice in the great cacophony of TV screamers and swindlers. He's a hero to progressives, of course, but I challenge anyone, regardless of political leanings, to find fault with the sentiments of this clip.

I literally don't know whether to laugh or cry.
